"Once
Again for the First Time"
The CD is entitled, Once Again for the First Time,
which
serves as the title track for the CD. The title is meant
to serve as a statement to laud Dr. Ron McCurdy becoming
a member of the faculty at the Thornton School of Music
at the University of Southern California. Even though Dr.
McCurdy has spent all of his professional life as a professor
at two other universities, he states, "there is something
fresh, new and exciting about joining the faculty at USC.
It feels like the first time!" Dr. McCurdy further states,
"I have been involved as an educator for more than fifteen
years at the college level. I have directed All-State High
School honor jazz bands and choirs. I have served as guest
soloist and conductor with the Disney College Program and
with the Grammy Foundation. Invariably, I would be asked,
do you have a CD? The answer was always, no! When I moved
to Los Angeles, I was so taken by the caliber and plethora
of talent here. I knew it was time to make it happen"
